Behind the genesis of every community based social institution there is a history and a social need. So it is with the genesis of Kesharwani Shiksha Samiti. It was in the mid nineties of the last century when few like-minded enthusiastic social activists of Ramanujganj of the then Surguja district in Chhattisgarh used to put their heads together regularly for undertaking sporadic social welfare initiatives to solve few social problems of their respective areas. However, the group soon felt that there is a need for conducting the social welfare activities in a systematic and well concerted manner to bring about positive and sustainable changes in society. Thus, Kesharwani Shiksha Samiti (KSS) was formed and registered as a society in 1996 under Society Registration Act-1973. Since then, KSS is functioning as a non-profit, non religious, non-political NGO and is engaged in the noble task of social development of the poor and marginalized tribal communities, particularly the women and children. Since its inception, KSS has been working in the fields of education, health care, livelihood, environment and community development. Through our interventions, we try to cater to almost all the vital aspects required for sustainable development.
